America talks…Ohio talks…Cleveland talks…

While it is essential that fake news be corrected, the correction alone is not sufficient…

Jochen Wegner talks about his “Germany Talks” experiment where he brought together people from all over the country who had completely different views on questions prompted by his organization. inspiring to hear about how many people were interested in speaking with someone who entirely disagreed with them, and even more amazing to see just how positively the talks went.

The experiment he ran required people meet in person to meet one another and talk about their perspective on the questions they were asked. I wonder, even before COVID, how much our reliance on social media has reduced the frequency of these kinds of conversations and thereby our understanding of one another.

Makes me wonder how much good could it do if we had an “America Talks”, or a “Cleveland Talks”, and some days as granular as “Family Talks.” Definitely worth a watch and some reflection…has me thinking about what should I be doing right now, even despite COVID, and certainly after….anyone up for a conversation about our differences?
