PechaKucha Night Cleveland

How well do you know your community?

Connecting the Cleveland Creative Community

In 2008, I started to notice that many of the people in Cleveland were incredibly well connected within their own creative community, but entirely siloed from other creative communities. Architecture firms were designing and building their own webpages while amazing graphic design firms looked for new work. Photography openings were packed with other photographers supporting one another. While at a bar one evening with colleague Raseem Parker, we started discussing how much more powerful the Cleveland community could be if people started to cross-pollinate ideas, friendships, and opportunities to collaborate across our creative silos. Could we transform the entire community by truly connecting people to one another in ways they had never been connected before?

In 2008, we founded PechaKucha Night (PKN) Cleveland to better connect the Cleveland creative community and bring together audiences to hear amazing ideas and stories about visual art, architecture, and technology to food, film, music, photography and furniture. Each event features 8-10 presenters who are given six minutes and forty seconds on the stage to share 20 briliant sides timed to 20 seconds each! This rapid-fire style keeps audiences engaged, exposes people to new ideas, and incites meaningful connections among presenters and audience members.

PechaKucha is organised by our Creative Team; a group of dedicated volunteers that seeks out and curates the list of presenters and venues for each event. If you are interested in learning more about PechaKucha, our Creative Team or upcoming events, please check out our webpage below.
