Get a coach

In his amazing talk from 2017, see by over 3.5 million people worldwide, Atul Gawande talks about the importance having a good coach has on our ability to get truly great at anything. I was recently fortunate enough to spend an entire weekend., as a part of an Executive Communication course at John Carroll, getting coached by various executives throughout the Cleveland community on communication skills. It was a really great reminder of what can happen when you really focus on making an improvement to a skill, while receiving immediate feedback from someone focused on helping you grow. So as we head into another week, looking at three months left in the year, I thought it might be fun to challenge everyone to think about two things: First, reflect on something you’d like to get better at before the end of the year, and identify someone you think might be able to help you. Secondly, make yourself available to help someone else.
