When Will I Arrive

Back in August of 2021, after three years of juggling family, work and school, I finally graduated with my MBA, from the Boler College of Business at John Carroll University. Anyone who knows me, knows that I have always enjoyed having a full plate. But those three years were challenging. Challenging for me and even more challenging for those who were supporting me throughout that journey. From the late nights coming home from school at 10:00 pm (which was sometimes actually pretty fun because my older son would stay up to try and “scare” me as I walked in the door), to the weekends spent away from my family working on projects for school, to the days having to leave work early or ask someone to cover for me as I left the office to go to class at 6:00 pm. What a journey….

The culminating experience for the program is a multi-semester-long journey of exploration and learning on the topic of leadership. What does it mean to lead? What kind of leaders do I look up to? What kind of leader do I want to be? At the end of the program, each MBA candidate creates a 15-minute long presentation to summarise what they intend to focus on as they continue forward. In preparing for this presentation, I spent months interviewing friends, colleagues, and family about the topic of leadership. I read books, articles and listened to podcasts on the topic as well. I created, recreated, and then started over again on this presentation until I got it to the point where I felt it truly reflected what I felt was important for me to continue to keep in mind as I continue on my journey.

Thank you to all who supported me along this journey. I hope you’ll consider checking out the video and letting me know your thoughts. Have a wonderful day!
